The Independent Commissioner Against Corruption (ICAC) for South Australia has completed an evaluation of DCS.

On February 3 2020, the Deputy ICAC Commissioner Michael Riches began an evaluation of the Department for Correctional Services’ practices, policies and procedures, with a view to identifying any weaknesses or other issues which might expose the Department to risks for corruption or maladministration in public administration.

On 24 June 2021, the report of the evaluation was tabled in Parliament and released publicly.

The Deputy Commissioner has made 24 recommendations, all which have been accepted by DCS.

The report identifies opportunities to make improvements to the DCS’ policy framework, recruitment and training processes, as well as strengthening expectations of performance management.

The evaluation report can be found here.

The Deputy Commissioner and DCS Chief Executive David Brown thank staff who participated in the evaluation.
