Yatala Labour Prison (YLP) is the state’s metropolitan induction and reception prison.
It accommodates male high to medium security prisoners.
It can also accommodate low security prisoners and those in protective custody.

Visit Booking

Visits must be booked in advance –  find out more about visiting prisoners.

Bookings can be made by telephone from Monday to Thursday between 09:00 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 15:00.

Special visiting arrangements

Length of visit sessions vary depending upon unit.

Maximum of 3 visitors at a time.

Lockers are available and are accessible via digital keypad.

Professional visits

Professional visiting times vary in each division, however visit times are generally from 09:00 to 11:00 and 13:30 to 15:30 – seven days a week. G Division and the Infirmary do not routinely have weekend visits.

Include the full name and date of birth of the prisoner you want to visit, and several options of days and times you can visit in case your first preference is not available.

Additional information

YLP manages a video conferencing facility, which allows prisoners to appear before the court via audio-visual link (AVL) without the need to leave the prison.

Access control to YLP includes biometric verification (using an iris or fingerprint scan), a Roto turn metal detector, X-ray scanning of approved personal items, an explosive and narcotics trace detector and Hisec 9 entry/exit booths.
