Employment policies

All Department for Correctional Services [DCS] staff are engaged under the Public Sector Act 2009 (PS Act) and are legally obligated to practise and adhere to the PS Act’s Code of Ethics for the South Australian Public Sector, the DCS Core Values and the DCS Employee Conduct Policy – which describes the personal professional and ethical standards of conduct and behaviour.

Inappropriate and illegal conduct which will not be tolerated by DCS includes any behaviour (whether this behaviour occurs at work or outside of work), which compromises prison facility security, prisoner security and thereby staff security and safety, and any behaviour involving harassment, bullying, victimisation, intimidation, intolerance, undermining of other staff, managers, offenders, and the public.
