The Community Services Program
Offenders can be sentenced to community service at a local Community Correctional Centre. This could be as part of the sentence or it could be because they are not able to pay a fine.
Community service gives the offender an opportunity to repay their debt to the community.
Volunteers assist support staff at a local community service work bases. They help the offender by mentoring and demonstrating positive role modelling and supporting the offender in meaningful work that benefits the community.
Work tasks include:
- managing clothing donations
- restoring council benches
- rejuvenating furniture, and
- making toys and blankets for schools and kindergartens.
Offenders interested in this program can contact their case manager for details.
