From 14 December 2020, DCS will begin recommencing face to face domestic visits at all prisons.

Visitors will be able to make bookings from Monday 14 December. The first day of visits may vary from site to site.

Visits will recommence at stage 2 with the following arrangements:

  • A limit of one adult visitor (plus children) per prisoner
  • Prisoner and visitor must sit at least 1.5 metres apart
  • Maximum of 60 minutes.

If there is enough space in the visits area, one additional adult visitor may be approved on request.
Requests for one additional adult visitor will be taken on a case by case basis at the time of booking. This is to ensure we comply with social distancing guidelines and unfortunately may mean we are unable to accommodate every request.

We will continue to provide virtual (video) visits as part of the new visits schedule.

The Department is continuously monitoring the situation and will continue to follow the advice of SA Health as the lead agency. Visit information may change at any time if an increased risk of COVID-19 is identified.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we continue to work hard in keeping COVID-19 out of our prisons.

Who does this apply to?

This applies to all domestic visitors:

  • Family and friends.
