All visitors and contractors who are deemed close contacts are not permitted entry to a prison.

As of 12.01am Saturday 30 April 2022, close contacts will no longer need to quarantine for 7 days.

In line with the Emergency Management Council’s announcement, close contacts will continue to be prohibited from visiting high-risk settings such as correctional facilities.

This means all domestic and professional visitors and contractors are not permitted entry to a prison if they have been deemed a close contact.

We understand the importance of family and community connections to the wellbeing, rehabilitation and reintegration of prisoners.

Virtual (Zoom) visits will continue to be facilitated where possible while prisoners continue to have access to phones.

See SA Health website for the definition of a close contact.

Who does this apply to?

This applies to all domestic visitors:

  • Family and friends
  • Professional visitors
