The Trainee Correctional Officer Pre-Employment Recruitment Test

To be eligible to apply, you are required to complete the Trainee Correctional Officer Pre-Employment Recruitment Test conducted by TAFE SA

This test consists of:

  • reading
  • writing
  • spelling and
  • numeracy assessments.

The fee of $148.50 is payable by the applicant directly to TAFE SA.

This Pre-Employment Recruitment Test is an essential part of the selection process and must be completed prior to submitting an application.

The following pass marks will be accepted:

  • reading 70%
  • writing 70%
  • spelling 55%
  • numeracy 65%


University graduates holding a Bachelor Degree or higher approved by the Department for Correctional Services
(recognised under the Australian Qualification Framework) or applicants who have achieved an ATAR
(Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank) of 70 or more within the last three years are not required to complete the
Correctional Officer Pre-Employment Recruitment Test.

Alternatively, a successful pass within the last three months of the South Australia Police (SAPOL) Recruitment Tests will be accepted.

Certified copies of your results/parchment must be enclosed in your application.
