  1. Fill out the Correctional Officer Application and Pre-Employment Declaration Form
  2. In an email to DCSTCORecruitment@sa.gov.au, attach the following documents:
  • Update your resume/CV
  • completed and signed Application form
  • completed and signed Pre-Employment Declaration form
  • certified copy of Driver’s Licence
  • certified copy of full Australian birth certificate, or
    • certified copy of Australian Citizenship certificate, or
    • certified copy of Australian Permanent Residency status
    certified copy of any change of name documentation such as Marriage Certificate or Divorce Papers

Requirements

  • An Australian or New Zealand Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident
  • You must be 18 years or older at the time of application
  • Hold a current South Australian Driver’s Licence
  • Pass a satisfactory National Criminal History Check

Recruitment process

There are six stages of the recruitment process:

  • Screen Application
  • Psychometric Assessment
  • Panel Interview
  • Medical Examination
  • Probity Checks & Referee Checks
  • Review, Decision & Approval


Training

After successfully being offered a position the new recruit will begin a 14 week training course. This comprises an initial eight weeks of classroom-based training followed by a four-week period of in-service training within a prison environment. A further two weeks of classroom-based training will be conducted prior to the end of 12 months probationary period.

Placement

Applicants can indicate an order of preference in their application form. Every effort will be made to accommodate the first choice but is based upon the department’s operational requirements.
